NYIGF Studio Preview: Aleksandra Pollner

New to JOIN's Gift Fair booth this year is Aleksandra Pollner, a multimedia artist working in ceramics. Originally from Gdansk-Poland, she currently resides in Seattle-WA.  Her amazing porcelain explorations of recognizable objects are back dropped by stories of her own personal experiences resulting in objects with simple but powerful narratives.

Porcelain + Wood Axe (above):

Colab between Aleksandra Pollner + Emmett Smith

Through an accidental chain of events, a broken porcelain Axe arm, led a collaboration between a wooden boat maker and a ceramicist. The decontextualized axe, just as its collaborators, is a meeting point between function and art or dysfunction and their own concepts and experiences of the original object.

Rock Bowl:
Aleksandra Pollner

Casts of a granite rock in porcelain. This is a smaller part of a bigger casting project, currently in process, of boulders as bowls and lamps. The project inspired by the sexy textures of the rock and by a desire to bring its form function and a beautiful graphic textural element to our interior living.

Alek's work will be on view at the JOIN booth at the NYIGF. Find JOIN next to the American Design Club at the Jacob K. Javits Center, Lobby Level 2, 9:00 am - 6:00 pm August 19 - 21; 2:00 - 6:00 pm on August 22.
